Non-hazardous waste storage facility (class 2)

• Containment of waste in secure cells (see diagram) that are completely impermeable and adapted for this purpose to collect effluents generated during its natural degradation (biogas and leachates).

• Monitoring and analysis of environments (air, water and biodiversity).

Types of waste accepted on site

• Household waste

• Non-hazardous waste from industrial or commercial activities (Ordinary Industrial Waste or OIW)

• Sludge from an urban sewage treatment site, with a dryness of 30% or more.

Electricity production unit

• Biogas recovery from the biodegradation of waste confined in the Storage facility in the form of electricity.

• Processes used: gas engines (see diagram).

• Installed capacity: 2 engines with a unit power of 1.4MW .

• Reinjection of all the electricity produced into the Sorégies grid.

Solar energy

• Electricity production from solar panels.

• Installed capacity: Experimental complex (5 panel technologies) of 200 kWC and a solar field of 3 MWc.

Biofuel production pilot plant using µ-alguae

• Recovery of carbon dioxide and heat from gas engines to produce algae biomass. Algae biomass which may be rich in lipids or in glucids can produce biofuel.
